The Crossbow
instituted in which the "Virgins of the Sablon," as they were called,
were to appear, conducted solemnly by the clergy and accompanied by the
Lodges. The Archduke took part in the first procession, which was arranged
in accordance with the Archduchess's decision. This ceremony is depicted
in a second painting by Sallaert.'
